Brian I have friends who are deathly afraid of eating eggs - they think the cholesterol will give them a heart attack. They eat soy because they think it is better than meat. They avoid healthy fats like butter and cheese, like the plague. Yet they are completely unaware of harmful fats that are throughout processed foods. And here’s the thing - you can’t talk to them. No amount of rational and factual breakdown has the slightest effect. Or even them seeing the example from my own good health (vs the chronic ailments which are ubiquitous in my circle). I don’t know you personally. But I do admire you. And I am just so grateful that you see it. Thank God because you have a role in spreading the truth. And here’s good news bad news (or bad news good news): if the sickening of people through widespread food lies is intentional, then the implications of us being surrounded perhaps even engulfed by large scale and unfathomable evil is there. The flip side is we have a way out. Knowledge is power, We can know how to not just avoid being harmed, but experience radiant, empowering and joyful good health. I would like to believe overcoming the food evil is a template of how everything else can work.

AMEN! Truth! My husband lost over 110 lbs. Started April 1st. at 320 lbs and lost it by the end of December. Down to around 200 lbs. The ONLY way he did it was exactly what you are saying. Intermittent fasting. Very healthy and he feels amazing. 61 years old. Thank you for both of these articles. Great wisdom. What a journey!

Another valuable info-packed article.

I agree with everything you profess.

I do make my own sourdough and many times my own pasta. From my perspective, there is no need to eliminate a good sourdough bread, or even any homemade yeast bread or pasta from our well-balanced diets. My philosophy is everything in moderation.

Many times people tend to go to the extreme when making dietary choices for weight-loss. My personal preference is wholesome, real food and sensible exercise.

Finally, I have found a local source for Raw Milk and Butter product...I am very, very thankful.

Also, I don't know how many are aware of the Amos Miller, Pennsylvania Amish Farmer, Lancaster County, is being persecuted by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and denied the ability to sell his product to members of his cooperative. It is very scary when the government wants and demands that they control the foods that we buy and put into our bodies for our heath. I believe this is our God-Given right and I will also emphasize it falls under "My Body-My Choice".

A few things about red meat and protein that isn’t too well known is red meat is an excellent source of heme iron, the most absorbable kind. Depending on the person and the amount of red meat they ingest, they could be raising their iron levels too high. If they are supplementing with vitamin C because keto diets may not have enough vitamin C in them, they could be rocking their iron levels over the moon because vitamin C augments iron absorption.

When protein is used as an energy source, the nitrogen on the amino acid needs to be removed. This, then is turned into highly toxic ammonia. In turn the ammonia is turned into urea and removed by the kidneys. All good until too much protein is burned for energy. Then the urea in the blood can reach toxic levels. This can be discovered by a blood urea nitrogen test. Over 21 is high. Another thing that is possible is the urea precipitating in the joints ( gout).

Carbohydrates can be viewed as a tool to create a specific physiological response. The way to do this is selecting low or high glycemic index carbs within the context of daily activity and timing. Junk (processed) carbs can be dismissed as useless. High glycemic index carbs eaten before any activity simply cause a glucose spike, then an insulin spike which ultimately winds up as fat stores. Complex carbohydrates don’t do that unless more calories are eaten than burned. After muscles are used with an intensity high enough to burn off muscle glycogen, high glycemic index carbs can be used to replace the muscle glycogen. No insulin spike and no fat deposition. Another trick is to use the nutrient sensing pathways mTOR/AMPK ( mechanistic Target Of Rapimycin / Adenosine Monophate Activated Protein Kinase) to best advantage. mTOR causes growth and development, so it s advantageous to increase its activation after a workout. AMPK initiates autophagy and it also releases fat from fat cells and blocks fat from being deposited. AMPK is activated by hunger and mTOR is activated by nutrients. In other words exercise hungry and on an empty stomach energy is provided by glycogen ( intense workout) or fat during low intensity training. After exercise, then eat.
