Get Off the "Just Eat Less/Do A Lot of Cardio!" Hamster Wheel

Don't Stay On It For 35 Years Like I Did
7

In my recent popular column on Autophagy, I had a section on how the body begins consistently burning up its stored body fat and how most people have been deliberately misled into thinking they can eat plenty of carbs in their daily diet and still ‘burn fat’ by doing hours of exercise every week.

I humorously made the point with this photo and caption:

[Understand what I just showed you there - because it’s essential and will soon be the subject of its own column. If you eat more than just a few grams of carbs daily, your body will NEVER [as in ‘never EVER!] begin burning its stored body fat for fuel. Yet you’d be astounded to see how many people slogging away on a treadmill or peddling like mad on an exercise bike don’t know this! They’re still eating 50, 80, or 120 grams of carbs daily, thinking they’re ‘burning fat’ doing all that cardio. But they’re not. They are running in place, and they don’t even know it. Because nobody told them.]

“Good thing the 80+ carbs I had so far today in my orange juice, oatmeal, and wheat toast gives me plenty of energy as I burn all this fat by exercising!”

So, in this 22-minute video, I will discuss at length why the conventional wisdom that an obese person can burn all their excess body fat by ‘eating less and exercising more’ is wrong. It is not a program that can be sustained for long-term success.

People are being conditioned to not only overeat but they’re never told they can lose body fat by doing just one simple thing. They don’t even need to exercise all that much if they do this one simple thing.

And that one simple thing is to switch to a diet high in protein, high in animal fat, and LOW IN CARBS.

And when I say low in carbs, I mean less than 30 total carbs in the diet daily until the excess weight is gone.

Many people have been tricked into thinking that vastly reducing their consumption of protein from meat and animal fat is making them healthier, even as they eat 100+ grams of carbs every day as part of their ‘weight loss’ efforts.

What’s made them fat isn’t overeating protein, and no, it’s not from overeating animal fat. It’s all the carbs they’ve been programmed and conditioned to eat every day.

You don’t need to count calories. All you need to do is count CARBS. Because it’s the excess CARBS you’ve been regularly eating in your daily diet causes the excess body fat to be created, and those same extra carbs you’re eating every day PREVENTS your body from ever using the stored body fat for it’s fuel.

Carb Counting Nutrition Guide | University Hospitals

That body fat around your waist is not being put there because you overate protein or fat. It’s there because you’ve been regularly eating a diet with too many carbs, and any carbs you ate that your body didn’t use for fuel were stored as fat.

When you STOP eating excess carbs every day, two things will happen:

  1. your body will cease creating new body fat and

  2. your body will begin burning its stored body fat for fuel.

When that happens, your body is now in what’s called the ketosis state; it’s no longer burning carbs from the daily diet for fuel. Instead, it’s converting your stored body fat into ketones in order to convert that into its fuel.

There is no such thing as an ‘essential’ carbohydrate. To briefly refresh your memory:

Your digestive system breaks down the essential elements of your food this way:

  1. Proteins are broken down into amino acids for rebuilding/maintaining the body.

  2. Fats are broken down into fatty acids and play a vital role in the hormonal system, which regulates body functions.

  3. Carbohydrates are broken down into glucose, which provides the body with the power or energy every day to move and engage in physical activity.

While protein and fat are essential to survival as part of the daily diet, carbs are not. Again, I want to emphasize that since I’m directly contradicting decades worth of programming.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN “ESSENTIAL CARBOHYDRATE.”

Your body cannot create proteins. Neither can fat. That’s why protein and fat are essential elements of your daily diet. You have to ingest them. It’s the only way. There is no other way for your body to get the essential amino acids & fatty acids it needs.

However, when it comes to glucose for energy, your body CAN produce that on its own. That’s why there is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate. Thanks to the liver’s ability to synthesize amino acids into glucose via a process called gluconeogenesis, you can survive and even thrive while not regularly eating carbohydrates. Something impossible for you to do with protein and fat.

You could go months without eating any carbs at all, and as long as you are eating sufficient levels of protein and fat, your liver will take amino acids and convert some of them into glucose.

But if you tried to go months without eating any protein or fat, your body has no built-in process to help you there.

Don’t Just Guess - KNOW! How Many Carbs Do You Eat Every Day?

How many grams of carbs are you getting in your food every day? And if you want to get into the ketosis state of regularly burning your stored body fat for energy, you need to find out where your ‘trigger point’ is for that; that is, how many carbs can you eat every day and stay in ketosis? What # of carbs do you eat that cause you to go out of ketosis?

For most people, this is UNDER 30 GRAMS OF CARBS per day.

While eating the Standard American Diet [SAD], most people get far over 100 grams of carbs daily.

Take the typical fast food lunch millions of Americans eat regularly at restaurants such as Burger King:

Burger King Medium Coke = 96 carbs

Burger King Whopper = 54 carbs

Burger King Medium Fries: 54 carbs [yes, fries have the same # of carbs as the hamburger]

That’s a whopping 204 carbs from that one meal.

Do you know how many calories are in 204 carbs? Since each carb is four calories, if you consume 204 carbs, that’s 816 calories.

How long would it take to burn off that 204 carbs/816 calories you ate in that one Burger King meal on an exercise bike?

If you got on an exercise bike and pedaled like a pro athlete for one hour, you could burn 933 calories. But let’s be honest: most people wouldn’t do that.

Wouldn’t it be better if you were trying to lose excess body fat not to eat 200+ grams of carbs in the first place? And then having to engage in the futile endeavor of trying to ‘burn it off’ with cardio exercise? And even if you did manage to burn all 816 carb calories with cardio exercise, congratulations! All you’ve done is return to where you were before eating lunch at Burger King. You still haven’t lost any of your excess body fat.

You’d think in a country where more than 70% of the population is overweight; the government would have some interest in teaching them what their ‘daily carb limit’ is, not to gain any more excess weight.

Instead, the government is currently teaching kids these sugary cereals are ‘healthier’ for them than real food like steak, eggs, bacon, and cheese.

One cup of Lucky Charms cereal has 28.3 grams of carbs in it. And come on, what kid will eat just one cup of cereal? The bowl the kid will fill up will likely have 3 or 4 cups worth of Lucky Charms. And the kid hasn’t even added the 2-3 cups of milk yet.

3 cups Lucky Charms cereal = 84.9 grams of carbs

2 cups of 2% milk = 24 grams of carbs

That’s 108 grams of carbs that kid had at breakfast, and he still has at least two more meals to go.

And our government is teaching kids that eating like this is ‘healthy.’

It’s almost like watching drug pushers protecting their supply and demand for the products they make. Products that are making this country fatter, sicker, and weaker as the years go by.

Fat Kid Rules the World: A Locally Shot Coming-of-Age Tale | Seattle Weekly

Isn’t it kind of criminal that after ensuring kids get hooked on sugary refined foods full of wheat, corn, and seed oils, as they grow older into fat teenagers, they’ll be told all they need to do to lose the growing fat on their bodies is EAT LESS AND EXERCISE MORE?

Nobody ever sits them down and explains what excess carbs in their diet are doing to them. And that there’s a natural alternative to the SAD that works? That they can cut their carbs down to a level where their body will begin naturally burning all that body fat for them? And they don’t need to huff and puff and do hours of cardio every week to lose that ugly body fat?

Well, since the government won’t do it, it looks like we will have to do it.

I didn’t set out to become a health reporter or crusader, but it seems like the role I’m being forced into because I see the need is great in this area. Millions of Americans are being lied to and misled, and it appears that much of this activity is deliberate.

So, this is another important facet of The Great Awakening.
