"[Jefferson] was, in fact, far less the practical politician than the political philosopher. Office seems to have had few attractions for him, & he was quite devoid of the sense of party regularity. His so-called demagogy turns out, on inspection, to have been simply a realistic statement of fundamental democratic theory. There is little in even his most startling pronouncements that is not implicit in the Bill of Rights. He was far less the foe of the Federalists than of govt in general. He believed that it tended inevitably to become corrupt-- that it was the common enemy of all well-disposed, industrious & decent men. The less there was of it, the better he liked it, & the more he trusted it... Govt has now gone far beyond anything dreamed of in Jefferson's day. It has taken on a vast mass of new duties & responsibilities; it has spread out its powers until they penetrate to every act of the citizen, however secret; it has begun to throw around its operations the high dignity & impeccability of a state religion; its agents become a separate & superior caste, with authority to bind & loose, & their thumbs in every pot. But it still remains, as it was in the beginning, the common enemy of all well-disposed, industrious & decent men." H.L. Mencken 'The Immortal Democrat' book review Sept 1926

Brian you just keep them coming. I love your work. BTW I have just been called about serving as a poll worker. First time in my 64 years on this earth that I feel I can make a difference; be it a tiny dent, but a movement for my grandchildren to have the America I grew up in, respected and loved.

Well written, Brian. I always enjoy everything you write. This just proves it doesn't matter how much money the other side has to run their campaign as long as the people show up in droves to vote, especially on election day.

Brian, have you looked into what happened in Pinal County AZ during the AZ primary, and what the AF candidates have been doing about it?

With all their money, it's hard to believe Cheney and the others don't get a top-notch PR team and pollsters (and some speech writers). They truly are out of touch.

MAGA couldn't buy a better promo than having Dick Cheney come out against Trump. Priceless. If Trump is smart (and he is), he'll use all of the opposition material over and over and over. He should begin his rallies with 1 or 2.

Thanks for your great reporting, Bryan. You're my go-to for an unbiased, thorough report on everything - looking forward to your take on the PIT. God Bless!
