Great info Brian, we need to turn that SAD pyramid upside down. Another example of big corporations controlling academia and government agencies, in opposition to the best interests of the American people.

Just say NO.

Good column Brian, thanks! I've personally had success with a slightly modified version of your plan. I have lost about 50 pounds off my previously 245 pound weight in a little less than a year. I haven't cut back quite so much on the carbs but I'm probably eating less than 50 or 60 on most days and I've just about completely cut out sugar. I go to the gym every other day and do cardio for 30 to 60 minutes on the elliptical trainer as well as some light to moderate weightlifting. I also only eat twice a day between 10 or 11 AM and about 5 PM. I eat my first meal of the day when I get back from the gym. I am 70 years old, have arthritis, and some other ailments but I've managed to stick with it. I am hoping to get down another 15 or 20 pounds but even if I don't, I feel much better. Hang in there and you will get to where you want to be!

Thank you for sharing this information, Brian. It is mind boggling all of the deception. I shall never blindly trust those in the “medical” establishment again. They do not want us healthy. They want us sick and prescriptionized. Lifelong customers. “F” them.

Excellent info Brian. Please continue to share whatever you find regarding this. I've had conversations with family and they are incredulous! It's "calories " and"why do I care about carbs"? Hard to even talk to them. I'm about to hit summer without the beer belly (I don't drink beer). Maybe they will listen then!

The problem with going on keto is that it tricks the body into thinking it’s starving. Due to the lack of carbs, stress hormones such as cortisol increase. This first causes muscle glycogen to be used, then muscle tissue gets turned into glucose to make up for the lack of carbohydrates. Water is also lost. This accounts for a lot of the weight that’s lost. Muscle is very metabolically active, so it’s harder to maintain weight when a normal diet is resumed. Carbohydrates here are defined as long chain glucose polymers which means bananas, apples, yams, broccoli, brown rice etc. not cakes, cookies or other high glycemic index foods. As vitamins C increases iron absorption, eating a lot of red meat will vitamin C can easily lead to iron overload.

Here’s a couple of articles to help with diet and weight loss. The Life Extension Foundation has a large library on disease prevention and treatment, and supplementation.

Have you checked out 2 sites:

1) Raw Milk Institute

2) Weston A. Price Foundation

Both are excellent sites and stress the importance of eating real food, including real dairy products.
