The Reckoning Has Begun

For US Scientists, Contractors and Others Who Helped The CCP Military Do Gain-of-Function Research on Coronaviruses at the Wuhan Institute of Virology

For almost two years now, the true origin of the COVID-19 virus has been the subject of intense debate, controversy and censorship.

While there was plenty of evidence - chiefly from the nature of the virus and it’s variants themselves, because they appear to have been designed - that these viruses are of human origin, an incredible amount of concentrated effort was expended early on in the pandemic to discount the lab leak theory and instead proffer a natural jump from animals to humans as the true origin.

A prominent letter signed by over two dozen scientific and virology experts in the prestigious medical journal The Lancet in February 2020 was used to dismiss the lab leak theory, and was frequently appealed to for justification in squelching any public debate on the theory that the virus came from a lab. [Take note of that, because that letter and who sponsored it later became a big scandal in itself!]

Despite the three uncontested facts that

1. The virus originated in Wuhan, China

2. There is a Wuhan Institute of Virology [WIV] lab in Wuhan, China

3. The virology lab in Wuhan, China was directly involved in research of bat coronaviruses

for more than two years it was furiously asserted by international authorities with one smothering voice that the lab leak theory for the virus’ origin was nothing more than a crazy right-wing conspiracy theory and the people proposing it needed to be censored and silenced.

Dr. Anthony Fauci nastily jousted with members of Congress, such as Senator Rand Paul [R-KY] over whether US tax dollars had funded gain-of-function research at the WIV.

“Gain-of-Function” is where scientists and researchers tinker with the structure of a virus in a lab in an attempt to add new features or functions to it.

Any organism can acquire a new ability or property, or "gain" a "function." This can happen through natural selection or a researcher's experiments. In research, many different types of experiments generate functions, and some pose certain safety and security concerns.

Scientists use a variety of techniques to modify organisms depending on the properties of the organism itself and the end goal. Some of these methods involve directly making changes at the level of genetic code. Others may involve placing organisms in environments that select for functions linked to genetic changes.

Fauci is on the record and under oath in multiple appearances before Congressional committees, stridently and quite angrily denying that his National Institute of Health [NIH] or any other US agency was aware of any gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab - and they certainly weren’t funding any such research if it was occurring.

The fact that US tax dollars were being sent to the WIV as it engaged in bat coronavirus research was bad enough. The closest Dr. Fauci would come under intense pressure from Paul and other senators was to make the reluctant admission that the CCP scientists at the Wuhan lab may have been taking the US research monies and then hiding the fact they were doing gain-of-function research with it.

As reported by The Daily Mail last October:

In May, Fauci testified that the NIH 'has not ever and does not now fund gain of function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.'

However, Fauci also said during that hearing that there was no way to know if Chinese scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology lied and conducted gain of function experiments on bat coronaviruses using U.S. tax dollars.

'There's no way of guaranteeing that,' Fauci said at a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing, responding to a question from Republican Sen. John Kennedy.

'But in our experience with grantees, including Chinese grantees, which we have had interactions with for a very long period of time - they are very competent, trustworthy scientists,' Fauci testified. [emphasis added]

So Fauci’s position is that the CCP scientists were being given US money for bat coronavirus research and the US officials behind this were simply trusting the CCP that there wasn’t any gain-of-function research or experiments being done with that money.

The Lancet Letter Helped Drive A Year’s Worth of Censorship & Disinformation About the Lab Leak Theory

Much of the US government money being sent to the Wuhan lab was funneled through grants given to a research firm called EcoHealth Alliance [EHA], run by a fellow by the name of Peter Daszak.

It turned out it was Daszak himself who organized that aforementioned letter for the Lancet, that so strongly and vehemently labeled the lab leak origin as a crazy conspiracy, and pushed for it’s publication. In the early days nobody was engaging in more strident activism against the lab leak theory and the claim that US dollars had been funding gain-of-function research at WIV than Peter Daszak, for reasons that are readily apparent, given the evidence that continues to emerge.

As more documentation continued to surface that directly supported the lab leak theory, people began to go back and take a closer look at the ‘experts denounce the lab leak theory’ letter published in the Lancet back in February 2020.

And what they found was highly infuriating.

One of the best post-mortems on the Lancet letter fiasco was written by Ashley Rindsberg at Tablet Mag.

Early on in the pandemic, the Lancet had published a study that pointed away from the ‘wet market’ theory, as more than a few of the original persons infected could not be tied to the wet market:

On Jan. 24, 2020, British peer-reviewed journal The Lancet published a study on a novel coronavirus it identified as 2019-nCoV. The study substantially contradicted the official Chinese government narrative about when and how the virus originated, placing its emergence months earlier. It also cast doubt on how the virus emerged. While the Chinese government had pointed to the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market, the now-infamous wet market in Wuhan, the paper found that at least one-third of initial cases—including “patient zero,” the first person known to have been sick with the virus—had no connection to the market whatsoever. [emphasis added]

Extremely alarmed at where the Lancet and others were being led by the emerging evidence, Daszak leaped into action and quickly got 27 of his colleagues to sign a letter that was published in the Lancet on February 19, 2020 that dismissed the lab leak theory as a nonsensical conspiracy theory and touted the wet market theory as the only sensible scientific origin.

As Rindsberg points out in his summary of this fiasco at Tablet Mag, the Lancet letter was quickly seized upon in numerous quarters as a means to instantly dismiss anything other than a wildlife origin for the COVID-19 virus. The experts had spoken, you see. And in a completely disinterested fashion! Just following the science!

The other common explanation for the media’s anti-lab-leak effort, one still advanced by many members of the press, is that (a) there was no evidence for lab leak, while (b) there was substantial evidence that the virus jumped to humans from an animal. Both claims were rationalized by the now-infamous Lancet letter of February 2020 signed by 27 scientists, which stated, “We stand together to strongly condemn conspiracy theories suggesting that covid-19 does not have a natural origin.”

Only much later did it emerge that the same fellow who was taking all that sweet, sweet US government grant money for his EcoHealth Alliance group and funneling into the WIV was the organizer of the Lancet letter. At the time the Lancet’s letter was published in February of 2020, very few people outside of top scientific research circles knew about Daszak’s glaring conflict of interest.

The Lancet was later harshly criticized after it was revealed that the letter was organized by Peter Daszak, the head of EcoHealth Alliance, an NGO that distributes U.S. government grant money (from the National Institutes of Health) to biosafety labs, including to the Wuhan Institute of Virology

Like Dr. Anthony Fauci, Peter Daszak went on a media blitz during much of 2020 as he fought vociferously to drive the lab leak origin theory out of the public square:

Daszak would become almost as ubiquitous a media figure as Dr. Anthony Fauci, his government benefactor. This blitz included Daszak being uncritically interviewed, cited, or tapped as a talking head by The Guardian, CNN (on multiple occasions), The New York Times (on multiple occasions), NPR, Slate, The Washington Post, 60 Minutes, Wired US and Wired UK, Associated Press, Bloomberg News, CBS News (on multiple occasions), Science magazine, the Los Angeles Times, NBC News, Vox, Now This, ABC News, The Atlantic, The New Yorker, and many others.

Not only did Daszak have a glaring conflict of interest that wasn’t disclosed during all of this, he and his EcoHealth Alliance was also doing something else that would later prove highly damaging to the natural origin theory, and provide yet more circumstantial evidence for the lab leak origin.

It’s been stated by many scientists over the past two years that one of their primary reasons for exploring the lab leak origin theory was that the novel COVID-19 coronavirus appears to be the product of lab-designed gain-of-function research.

Fauci, Daszak and many more involved in funding coronavirus research in China at the WIV have loudly insisted that the wildlife origin has all the ‘real’ scientific evidence and that the very idea that the US would be funding gain-of-function coronavirus research by CCP scientists at WIV is preposterous and a vicious slander against the government’s top scientists and virologists who are striving to contain and defeat the pandemic.

EcoHealth Alliance Caught Omitting Funding For Gain-of-Function Coronavirus Experiments At WIV From NIH Reports

Then evidence emerged that Fauci, NIH Director Francis Collins, Daszak and everyone else involved in suppressing and discounting the both the lab leak theory and US funding of gain-of-function at the WIV may very well have been lying all this time.

A letter surfaced in October of this year which revealed that there had been gain-of-function research going on at the WIV - and that EcoHealth Alliance had been funding some of that research - and Peter Daszak and the EHA personnel involved had been leaving this out of their reports to the NIH.

Naturally, as one might expect, there was immediate fallout from this revelation after over a year of emphatic denials this kind of thing had gone on.

The first victim of the fallout from this revelation was Collins, who quickly announced that he was resigning to spend more time with his family.

As for Fauci, he has been putting off going back in front of Congress again, for obvious reasons.

What Fauci and Collins knew and when they knew it has become a very important question.

The most charitable interpretation that can be given to the facts is that when he made his often snide and arrogant denials of NIH funding of gain-of-function experiments at WIV over the past year and a half, Fauci was genuinely unaware that Daszak’s EHA was deliberately editing it’s reports to omit the gain-of-function experiments being funded by the NIH grant money they were being given.

Having been the most public face of the double-pronged narrative that the lab leak theory was already soundly debunked and that no gain-of-function research was going on at WIV funded by NIH money, Fauci will certainly not escape fallout from this.

The only question is: when does the axe fall on him?

It already fell hard on another major player in all of this that the mainstream press has been downplaying.

Enter Dr. Charles Lieber

But there was another development early on in the COVID-19 pandemic that unfolded parallel to the strident insistence of people like Dr. Fauci that the lab leak theory was a hare-brained conspiracy theory not worthy of serious discussion.

And that development was this:

In January 2020, a very prominent Harvard professor was arrested by federal authorities for having lied about millions of dollars in under-the-table payments he had received from the Chinese government. In fact, Lieber was taking so much money from the CCP he was later hit with a superseding indictment for tax avoidance.

Now, under the new China Initiative begun early in former President Donald J. Trump’s term, a lot of university people had been getting arrested for the past couple of years for taking secret Chinese money while surreptitiously and illegally sending stolen research materials and technology back to Beijing.

What stood out was the particular activities this Harvard professor had been engaged in for which the CCP military was generously - and secretly - paying him.

For it turns out that Dr. Charles Lieber had spent more than a decade helping the Chinese government set up and run a research lab at the Wuhan University of Technology, which just happens to be a hop, a skip and a jump from where the Wuhan Institute of Virology is located. It can’t help but be wondered how much cross-pollination was going on between the WUT research lab Lieber was supposedly setting up and the WIV lab just a few miles away.

Since 2011 Lieber had essentially been double-dipping, taking US research grant money as well as millions in CCP payments as he traveled often to Wuhan, China to help establish the research lab at the Wuhan Institute of Technology.

And this past Tuesday afternoon in a federal courtroom in Boston, a jury of his peers found Dr. Lieber guilty on all six charges he was facing.

"The verdict, returned after less than three hours of deliberations, marks a stunning fall for Mr. Lieber, who came under scrutiny by federal investigators over an academic partnership with the Wuhan University of Technology that dates back a decade. Prosecutors showed documentary evidence that Mr. Lieber had signed a Thousand Talents agreement with Wuhan that paid him hundreds of thousands of dollars—some in cash and some deposited into a Chinese bank account.

The Wuhan school also had appointed Mr. Lieber as director of the WUT-Harvard Joint Nano Key Laboratory, a lab that Harvard officials said they had no knowledge of and hadn’t approved as a collaborator. Harvard later asked Wuhan to remove the school’s name from the collaboration, and Harvard employees testified at trial that Mr. Lieber hadn’t followed the process needed to establish a collaboration."

It’s understandable why Lieber insisted on a trial. He was gonna do major time anyway if he pleaded guilty to any deal, so he rolled the dice. Now he'll do MORE time than he otherwise would have done if he'd accepted a deal. And his only way to get a reduced sentence now is to agree to cooperate with the investigation into how much he knows about what was going on in Wuhan, his direct role in setting up a nanotechnology lab there, and any knowledge he had of illegal gain of function experiments going on ”next door” at the WIV. To date, he hasn't cooperated at all.

Up until now, Lieber wouldn't even admit he was taking illegal Chinese payments of millions of dollars under the table in exchange for helping the CCP set up the WUT lab. Much less go into detail with investigators about any knowledge he may have as to what the WIV may have been up to while he was there. Like Ghislaine Maxwell, he was likely expecting strings to be pulled to get him off. When he gets the maximum sentence he very well might think about changing his stance.

What Kind of Sentence Can Lieber Expect?

From the WSJ article:

"Mr. Lieber was convicted on charges of making false statements, which carry a potential penalty of up to five years in prison, but with no criminal history Mr. Lieber is likely to face less than six months in prison. His other convictions were on tax crimes and foreign bank reporting violations that rarely carry prison time in cases involving relatively modest sums of money, such as Mr. Lieber’s."

Except when Lieber's playing a DIRECT ROLE in setting up a research lab at Wuhan that likely was involved in coronavirus experiments along with the WIV, trust me on this: he getting more than 5 years. Way more. Tax avoidance and taking under-the-table money from the CCP regime will be the least of his problems. There are sizable national security issues in this case that much of the mainstream press is overlooking in order to minimize the national exposure of Lieber’s crimes.

Does it not seem as if a plan is coming together? Right as the same corrupticrats who insisted this was impossible are being forced to admit - after a year and a half of strident censorship and denial - that the virus came out of the WIV lab and that gain-of-function research happened there after all - Lieber gets found guilty and now his decade-long role as a scientist-for-hire for the CCP in Wuhan is going to be more fully explored once it's fully admitted that the virus came from a research lab there.

"It was an attack. We were attacked."

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office of the White House on Wednesday, Mr Trump said: "We went through the worst attack we've ever had on our country, this is worst attack we've ever had. This is worse than Pearl Harbor, this is worse than the World Trade Center. There's never been an attack like this. And it should have never happened. Could've been stopped at the source. Could've been stopped in China. It should've been stopped right at the source. And it wasn't."

And it's being handled in a way that didn’t get the United States into either a nuclear exchange with the CCP or a conventional ground war/invasion that would kill millions and millions of people. Some people don't like that, they would have preferred the nuclear exchange or the conventional ground war, but Trump was President, so too bad.

An Inescapable Reckoning Approaches

So for more than two years now, it is becoming increasingly obvious that the tightly knit cabal at the top of the US & international virology community engaged in a campaign of suppression and lies in a furious attempt to stave off any accountability for what had actually occurred:

Not only were US tax dollars spent on gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, Fauci and Daszak and many others very likely knew all about this and were covering it up, desperate to hide their role in funding a military lab in China that was doing gain-of-function research on bat coronaviruses that then somehow escaped the lab and proceeded to wreak havoc around the world.

Not to mention the fact that a top-flight US scientist at Harvard was traipsing back and forth between the US and Wuhan for more than a decade, working assiduously to help the CCP military set up and run a nanotechnology [viral?] research lab at WUT in extremely close proximity to the WIV. All while being paid millions of dollars for this on top of all the US grant money he was already getting. Are we seriously supposed to believe that Fauci and Collins and all the other members of that tight clique at the top of the international virology community either didn’t know what Lieber was up to or saw nothing wrong with it?

Anthony Fauci is currently watching this slow-building tidal wave coming for him, Daszak and Collins and there isn't a damn thing he can do about it.
